 Ernestine Chesser Williams

After a full life of teaching and farming in New Mexico where she raised cattle and sheep, Williams began recording her memories. She is known as a historian and painter of Southwest ranching culture.

In 1981 she won first place in the Roswell Writer,s Guild Competition with her story, "We Couldn,t Go Home for Christmas." The short story chronicles the holiday season of 1933, and her inability to return home from ACU for Christmas. Her writing is highly acclaimed for its accuracy and story-telling ability.
